Freeman is seeking a Director, Freight Operations to direct all functions of Freight Operations. Plan and direct all department activities in accordance with agreed budgets and timescales. Direct the processing complex requirements, inquiries and/or complaints, and provide other requirements to internal and external customers as needed. Execute branch strategy. Additional duties include:
Direct all Freight Operations employees, including interviewing, hiring/firing, training, mentoring, coaching, and conducting performance appraisals.
Schedule freight operations supervisors for individual shows, and direct freight operation of all shows for the branch including the dock, service desk, marshalling yard, tools and equipment regardless of show size or facility.
Work with Corporate Freight Operations, General Manager and other department leaders to ensure that all Freight Operations requirements and problems are addressed.
Partner with sales team to coordinate freight move in preparation for upcoming shows.
Report capital expenditures of warehouse, equipment, and personnel to Freeman General Manager.
Ensure that Freeman policies and procedures are followed.
Schedule Freight Operations safety training in conjunction with Risk Management.
Work with branch Risk Management to ensure DOT compliance.
Conduct regular department meetings.
Approve credit memos on material handling charges.
Monitor the account receivable aging report and Labor Budgeting Tool (LBT).
Review warehouse reweighs, pounds per man hour and special handling percentages.
Oversee the operation, maintenance and movement of company vehicles and equipment.
Monitor equipment rental budget as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Must have at least 5 years of experience managing supervisory roles.
Must be familiar with current material handling rates and show rules and regulations.
Experience with computer and web-based systems.
Versed in programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with all levels in the organization.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact appropriately with co-workers and customers.
Ability to work in a fast paced, sometimes stressful, and time-sensitive environment.
Must be able to pass an MVR screen.
Minimum ten + years of industry experience
Minimum eight + years of personnel, budgetary and operational management experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- College Degree
